THE SPECIAL BUZZ OF SILVERWARE
Gary Neville believes the 2006 Carling Cup win was a catalyst for further success. That final win against Wigan three years ago was crucial for this club. It simply can't be underestimated in terms of the development of this squad because those youngsters have since won two League titles and a European Cup.The likes of Wayne Rooney won something for the first time that day and you could see the delight on his face. I genuinely think from that point we had the belief to go on winning. At this club we have to be winning trophies every season whether that's the Carling Cup or Champions League. The confidence gained through beating Wigan was incredible and there are some players who may be playing on Sunday like Jonny Evans, Danny Welbeck, Darron Gibson, Ben Foster and the Da Silva brothers who could be the backbone of this club for years to come but as yet, they haven't won trophies.Sunday's game at Wembley represents a great chance for them to get the special buzz of winning silverware. For me, there's nothing like winning a trophy, it's the best feeling in football. There's nothing to replace it, it's a memory you always cherish.
