Finally,a grand slam title for the young Swiss tennis star ROGER FEDERER. This year has been a disastrous one for FEDEX..He reached the semi-finals of the Australian open,finals of FRENCH OPEN and Wimbledon where he lost to his number 2 rival Rafael Nadal,currently ranked no 1.After his loss in the Masters cup,his long reign of number 1 ranking for 236 weeks was captured by 22 year old NADAL.Then,the Swiss had a hope of winning at Beijing Olympics.But his hope got shattered in the 4Th round itself losing to James Blake of USA.Then,he was determined to win the US Open and reached the finals with ease and comfort.His biggest game was against the number 3 seed NOVAK DJOKOVIC beating him in 4 sets.. The Swiss got ready to meet either Nadal or Murray in the finals.. That match too was an epic for 4 sets where the Briton star,ANDY MURRAY beat the Spaniard and reached his first Grand Slam title finals.
The finals was pretty one sided match as the Swiss genius defeated the Scot in straight sets by 6-2 7-5 6-2.Even though Murray's forehand and backhand was powerful,it wasn't enough to match up with the power of Federer.5Th continuous straight win for Federer in US Open from 2004-08 and it was a Flawless Five for FEDEX in the US Open.Now,he is the only person in the history to win 5 continuous title in two grand slams...He achieved this record in Wimbledon from 2003-07. He has won totally 13 grand slam titles and one short of the legend PETE SAMPRAS of USA.The most common fact between these two tennis stars is that they haven't won a single French open title.
