Ronaldo Back

Cristiano Ronaldo remains on course to resume full training with his Real Madrid team-mates later this week.The world's most expensive player has missed Madrid's last nine matches due to the injury that also ruled him out of both of Portugal's World Cup play-off matches against Bosnia-Herzegovina, but he is closing in on a return to action.Having taken part in ball work yesterday and earlier today, Ronaldo underwent more tests, after which the Spanish giants tonight confirmed the 24-year-old would continue his planned recovery until Friday, when he could return to training with his team-mates.As part of today's tests, Ronaldo was examined by Professor Niek van Dijk, the Dutch specialist who operated on the former Manchester United man's right ankle in the summer of 2008 and was also consulted by the Portuguese winger in Amsterdam a fortnight ago.Madrid did not announce when Ronaldo might be able to play again.On Saturday, Manuel Pellegrini's side face Racing Santander at the Bernabeu, before hosting FC Zurich in the Champions League next Wednesday and then travelling to Barcelona for 'El Clasico' the following weekend.

Ronaldo first sustained the problem during the Champions League match against Marseille on September 30 and then aggravated it while playing for Portugal against Hungary.

Ronaldo heads Ballon d'Or list

Real Madrid's record signing Cristiano Ronaldo leads a list of 30 nominees for this year's Ballon d'Or.Somewhat surprisingly this years list does not include a single player from current world champions Italy.Ronaldo, 24, won the prestigious award last year and will be one of the favourite for this year's title after his stunning start to his career at the Bernabeu.The Portuguese attacker has scored nine goals in seven games since joining the Spanish giants for a world record £80million from Manchester United in the summer.Ronaldo, who is currently sidelined by an ankle injury, headed Madrid's significant summer spending which also saw them sign Kaka and Karim Benzema - who were both also included in the list.There was, however, no room for any players from world champions Italy.Goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon and Luca Toni were the Azzurri's only nominees last year.European champions Spain are the best represented nation with six players listed, while the Primera Liga boasts the most players from a single league with 12. The Barclays Premier League is next best with 10 players while Serie A has just four.Champions League and La Liga winners Barcelona top the list in terms of club representation with six players - Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Thierry Henry, Andres Iniesta, Lionel Messi, Yaya Toure and Xavi.Chelsea and Manchester United both had three players selected on the list. The Blues' nominees are England captain John Terry, Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba while United's selection affords another accolade to 35-year-old midfielder Ryan Giggs, as well as Wayne Rooney and Nemanja Vidic.The Ballon d'Or is an award handed out to the world footballer of the year. It is voted for by journalists and organised by France Football magazine.
The winner will be announced on December 1.

Ronaldo- Does he deserve FIFA Player of the year??

Cristiano Ronaldo. Does he really deserve the FIFA World Player of the year??? According to me, he really deserved that award. He was the main playmaker in the triumph of his team, Manchester United, last season, scoring an incredible 42 goals in all competitions. His pace, control, trick plays helped him a lot to earn this award. He was very well assisted by his teammate, Ryan Giggs and others. Ronaldo is very well known for his trick plays and crisp finishers and that his name to get stretched out throughout this world. Questions may arise why Lionel Messi, Torres didn’t get that award. I won’t say that they don’t deserve this award, but time is there to prove it that they are the best. These two are powerful strikers for their respective teams, but considering Ronaldo, he is a genuine Right wing player and a powerful striker too. He is also good at his week foot ability too. In fact, the best among the other players.

Ronaldo out to shut Mourinho up

Cristiano Ronaldo is confident Man United can overcome Inter when their defence of the Champions League resumes.United travel to the San Siro on February 24 before welcoming Inter to Old Trafford for the second leg 15 days later and Ronaldo has no doubt who will progress to the quarter-finals.Ronaldo's stunning form was a big factor in United's success at home and abroad last season and the 24-year-old was duly recognised with both the Ballon d'Or and the FIFA World Player of the Year awards.Inter coach, and former Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho recently claimed Inter's Zlatan Ibrahimovic is a better player but Ronaldo has refused to be drawn into a war of words.Ronaldo also commented on Chelsea's latest signing, Portugal team-mate Ricardo Quaresma, who moved to Stamford Bridge on transfer deadline day on loan from Inter Milan until the end of the season.
