Hoffenheim battled to clinch a tough 1-1 draw away to Borussia Monchengladbach to move two points clear at the top.Wellington scored an 89th-minute equaliser just three minutes after coming on to earn Hoffenheim a point.The Brazilian cancelled out Alexander Baumjohann's first-half strike to move Hoffenheim two points clear of second-placed Hertha Berlin and deny Gladbach the chance to move off the foot of the table.Bayern Munich can cut Hoffenheim's lead to a point if they beat Borussia Dortmund tomorrow.Hamburg missed the chance to go level on points with Hoffenheim after they threw away a two-goal lead to lose 3-2 at Karlsruhe, both sides ending the game with 10 men.Paolo Guerrero and Collin Benjamin struck after six and 48 minutes respectively to seemingly put Hamburg in control, but Sebastian Freis halved the deficit in the 49th minute and Giovanni Federico equalised four minutes later.Hamburg striker Mladen Petric was sent off with 14 minutes remaining before the home side were also reduced to 10 men, Marco Engelhardt seeing red eight minutes from time.And Freis completed Karlsruhe's comeback in the last minute to lift his side out of the bottom three.Bayer Leverkusen missed the chance to go third after they went down 4-2 at home to Stuttgart.Mario Gomez put the visitors ahead after just three minutes and things went from bad to worse for Leverkusen when Arturo Vidal was sent off for a second yellow card four minutes after the break.Thomas Hitzlsperger doubled Stuttgart's lead two minutes later before Stefan Kiessling pulled one back.Gomez grabbed his second of the game to seal the points in the 75th minute, though, and a Lukas Sinkiewicz own goal in the 90th minute made it four.Greece international Angelos Charisteas netted an even later consolation for Leverkusen.Schalke provided evidence they could yet rescue what has so far been a sorry season with a 1-0 victory over Werder Bremen.Benedikt Howedes scored early in the second half, although Fred Rutten's men are still languishing in ninth, one place ahead of their opponents.Elsewhere, two goals from Edin Dzeko earned Wolfsburg a 2-0 win at home to Bochum, who slipped into the drop zone.Milivoje Novakovic also netted a brace as Cologne came from behind to draw 2-2 at 10-man Eintracht Frankfurt.Marco Russ and Martin Fenin twice gave Eintracht the lead, but both times Novakovic pegged them back, his second equaliser coming from the penalty spot in the 74th minute after Chris had been sent off.
